Gartner: Google Eyes Thumstacks

Gartner: Google Eyes Thumstacks: "MarketingVOX is reporting the Gartner Group thinks that Google will likely acquire a web-based PowerPoint-like presentation application, such as Thumbstacks. This will round out its suite of web-based productivity applications. Google's intent, Gartner says, is not to go head-to-head with Microsoft, but instead to target consumers and build these apps into a social-networking environment that creates new inventory for online advertisers. (Disclaimer: Microsoft is an Edelman client.)

2.32 Million Dollars Worth of DS Lites Missing In Hong Kong

2.32 Million Dollars Worth of DS Lites Missing In Hong Kong: "It's a City On Fire over in Hong Kong as a container with $2.32 million USD worth of Europe-bound Black DS Lites went missing. If not recovered, these DS Lites will probably be sold on the street for Bloody Money, leading to a sad Autumn's Tale for Nintendo fans in the EU. Authorities are hoping for some Drifter Love and are offering $1 million HKD ($128,831 USD) as a reward for anyone who can provide them with a tip. Here's hoping for A Better Tomorrow. – Jason Chen

Eight Dollar Home Network Rack Solution

Eight Dollar Home Network Rack Solution: "This is something so simple that we wish we'd have thought of it. Instead of strewing your router, switch, cable modem, external hard disk, and other miscellaneous gear around your desk, grab a stack of letter trays and place them inside. They're compact, cheap, and have holes on the back and sides for cables to run. The trays are $2 each at OfficeMax so you can make a stack as high as your dad's old playboys. – Jason Chen

Google "Onebox" Results We Still Need

Google "Onebox" Results We Still Need: "A “onebox” is an instant result on top of Google’s organic search result. For example, when you enter weather ny, Google shows you the current New York weather without you having to leave the results page. Here are a couple of onebox results we don’t have yet, but which might prove useful:

1. Social network profiles

2. Whois queries*

*If I’m not mistaken, a similar feature was briefly available for real.

3. Directly ask at Google Answers

4. Chat with a Googler

5. Google Book Search results

6. Instant recipes

7. Creative Commons content

8. A “Like'-operator for images

9. Calories counter for people on a diet

10. Instant quotes

What other oneboxes you’d like to see?

Windows 98 y ME, imparcheables
